Tax Collector

The tax collector is an elected office that is permitted by Pennsylvania law and governed by the Second Class Township Code. Tax collectors serve a 4-year term of office.

The primary duties and functions of the tax collector include:
  • Collecting all taxes or assessments levied within the jurisdiction by authorities empowered to levy taxes*
  • Keeping / providing reports as requested
  • Providing for certifications necessary for re-financing or settlement of real property
  • Performing other duties associated with the legal requirements of the office
  • Receiving, disbursing, and keeping a general accounting of monies received

*This may include taxes established under the Local Tax Enabling Act. Currently, the Bethel Township Tax Collector only collects taxes assessed against real property for the township and school district
